Rolling in Cuba

Some say 200 thousand, others 500 or 700 and even up to over one million. The truth is that it does not matter how many people were at the Rolling Stones concert this Friday in Havana, the emotions of the night make the presentation of the British band historic.

For the crowd gathered at the Sports Center, Ciudad Deportiva, it was a unique opportunity to hear live the legendary group. With that end thousands of people traveled from other cities of the island and even from other countries; they reached the place early in the morning or the night before to ensure a spot well near the stage.

The reception of Cuban fans was excellent. The musicians were received with flags, with the band logo painted on the face or in pullovers with the most unique designs.

The concert was also a big party attended by many Cuban families, in a generational encounter. The appearance of Jagger, Richards, Wood and Watts on stage was for most a dream come true.

Rolling Stones, We've been waiting our whole lives for you. Thanks, said a poster held by one of the followers of the band.

The Rolling opened with Jumping Jack Flash. Goodnight my people of Cuba, Jagger said before playing It´s only rock and roll.

The famous singer spoke several times in Spanish, but certainly no one will forget when he said:

We know that it was difficult for you to hear our music, but we're in this beautiful land. Yes times are changing.

More than a tear of happiness was spilled with songs like Angie, while millions of screams of euphoria were provoked by songs such as Gimme Shelter and Honky Tonk Women.

The choir Entre Voces (Among voices), directed Digna Guerra was the only group to share the stage with The Rolling Stones, in the song You Cannot Always Get What You Want. The closure could not be better: Satisfaction, the most popular lyrics of the band in Cuba.

This is the first giant rock event on the island. Undoubtedly, the audio quality and the impressive audiovisual show, with great displays, make the concert one of the best in Cuban history.
